Heraldry Design
Designing a Coat of Arms Having discussed with the client the various aspects of their Coat of Arms these have to be steered through the Queen's Household (in the United Kingdom) either through the Kings of Arms at the College of Arms England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or via Lord Lyon at the Court of Lord Lyon in Scotland. Designs which have been submitted and accepted in their entirety include the Arms of the National Federation of Self-Employed and Small Businesses (F.S.B.), the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry (BMSGH), the Arms of William Edward Lines Esq., the Heraldic Badge of the Juby Family and the special "difference" to the ancient Arms of the de Huby family from whom Bernard descends.. In addition, ideas submitted towards the design of new Armorial Bearings for the Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) - such as the use of a crane ( whose stylized foot is used in pedigree tables) resting on a globe, signifying its world-wide nature and the use of a potent shield - a special heraldic term for T-shaped pieces of fur - to indicate the "T" of family tree), were incorporated into the official, final design. The Arms (shown below) appear on the Federation's Web Site. The Armorial bearings of the Federation of Family History Societies |
